Testamur Certificates & Membership Cards

| One of the main reasons the National Latin Honor Society was founded in 1929 was to enable teachers to reward eligible Latin students for their exemplary performance in their Latin studies. Thus began the issuance of certificates of excellence called Testamur certificates. Our name says it all: National Latin Honor Society. The students we honor must have maintained a 90% or better average based on each teacher's testing and grading scale for three consecutive quarters. The names of eligible students must be submitted, with the teacher's certifying statement, so the honorees can be added to the Society's growing database of national student excellence!

Our hand-lettered NLHS School Charter Certificates confer a lifetime NLHS membership. Each certificate is 8.5x11 inches and printed on parchment-styled paper, suitable for framing. School Charters not only recognize your school's participation in our program, but provide a discount on all Testamur Certificate, pin and honor cord orders.

The lapel pin is modeled on the pins Dr. Albert Warsley, founder of APSL, distributed to those receiving rewards in the 1950 and 1960's. Some of our students who took the Auxilium Latinum exam during this period, and are now Latin teachers, will recognize the retro design.

APSL is now offering graduation honor cords for our High School graduates. They are purple and silver braided, approximately 1/4 inch in diameter and 62 inches long between the tassels. Each tassle contains both purple and silver and is 4 inches long.

We have reintroduced Latin playlets written by Dr. Albert Warsley's contemporary, Dr. Lillian Lawler. Whether based on Roman superstition, literature or history, all playlets bring the past to life in a fun and educational format. To help with the student's understanding of the playlets, we are including two copies of each play, one with footnotes and one without. Latin Alive Playlets are available for purchase on six different CD's. Each CD contains 4 playlets for the price of $5 each. Full descriptions of the playlets can be found on the PLAYLETS page.
